LE NOUVEAU MARCHE DE L'ART
Une révolution est en train de bouleverser le marché de l’art international. en France, des sociétés commerciales françaises et étrangères agréées sont autorisées à vendre des œuvres d’art, domaine qui était le monopole des commissaires-priseurs depuis 1556.
La plus longue page de l’histoire du marché de l’art français est donc définitivement tournée, et la société américaine Sotheby’s a inauguré ce nouveau marché de l’art international, avec ses premières ventes à Paris, les 29 et 30 novembre 2001.
Cette réforme oblige les commissaires-priseurs à se transformer en sociétés commerciales. C’est aussi la fin d’une regrettable confusion qui a toujours « pollué » le marché des artistes vivants, sous le prétexte, que leur cotation n’était matérialisée que par le caractère dit « officiel » des ventes effectuées par des commissaires-priseurs.
La réalité de toujours est que la cotation d’un artiste vivant ne s’établissait ni dans les ventes du passé des commissaires-priseurs, ni dans celles effectuées depuis cette année par des sociétés commerciales agréées, mais par les ventes réalisées dans les galeries, les salons ou dans les ateliers des artistes.
Les œuvres d’art vont donc être vendues aux enchères par des sociétés commerciales. Cette réforme va réparer une injustice et conforter notre démarche au bénéfice des artistes contemporains. Car les ventes justifiées juridiquement,à l’association Drouot Cotation des Artistes Modernes et Contemporains, par des artistes et par des galeristes qui ont la passion de la création et qui s’impliquent financièrement, sont aussi indiscutables que les ventes aux enchères effectuées par des sociétés commerciales.
L’idée si naturelle de rendre enfin justice aux artistes vivants, en diffusant leur véritable cotation, ouvre une nouvelle ère pour le marché de l’art contemporain, car l’éternelle aporie de l’artiste était : « Pour vendre il faut être connu, et pour être connu il faut vendre ! », elle sera, nous l’espérons, enfin résolue.
Ce dictionnaire de cotation sera chaque année une référence et un instrument de travail incontournables, pour les artistes, les galeristes, les experts, les sociétés commerciales agréées, et tous ceux qui s’intéressent de près ou de loin au marché de l’art.
